CHORUS EventsCHORUS Forum: Future of Preprints

4 June 2026 – Free online meeting
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM EDT
#CHORUSForum

Preprints have moved from the margins of scholarly communication to a core component of the research lifecycle. Their future is less about whether they will persist, and more about how they will be integrated, governed, and trusted.  Preprints will increasingly serve as foundational research infrastructure, redefining the role of journals from primary dissemination channels to evaluators and curators of knowledge. Organizations that embrace preprints strategically can accelerate innovation, increase visibility, and strengthen open research practices, while maintaining rigorous quality and integrity standards. Preprints are not replacing journals; they are reshaping the scholarly communication ecosystem, offering faster, more transparent, and more inclusive ways to share and evaluate research. Speakers will offer their insights into how preprints can be managed within the ecosystem.
