China’s approach to research and scholarly publishing has undergone a rapid transformation over the past two decades, evolving into a state-driven, strategically coordinated system that balances openness with national priorities such as technological leadership, economic competitiveness, and security. As the world’s largest producer of scientific output, China is increasingly shaping global research norms while also developing a distinctive model of open science governance. During this event, speakers will share their expertise and reflections on how research and policy is evolving in China.
